Why do we provide this site?
WHY? WHY? WHY?

Well, after spending countless hours building our own UC Server, it became clear that to write good HTML was to look at what others were doing. This site, we believe, will become a great resource for those throughout the UC System who are building Web Sites. As the HTML Standard changes (every month it seems), so will Web service and HTML throughout the UC System. This listing is an attempt to highlight the new and innovative sites throughout The University of California.

Many UC Web sites have taken great steps toward providing information in this new medium, and lead the way for those still to come. We hope that this service will provide a needed point of reference for UC Webmasters, and that it will also bring us together.

Who and How?

How do you select a HOT UC WWW Page?

The HOT UC WWW Page of the Week is selected every Friday for the upcoming week. The selection committee is made up of..... me! When this project began, there were two of us, but my counterpart was stolen by Time Inc.(Jerks!). So, that makes me the grand selectoritator. The selection is also reviewed by some of my co-workers.

What makes a HOT UC WWW Page?

    A. Something other than the "Gopher" look. If your familiar with the reference, you know what I mean. I like to see creative html layouts. The longer the "bullet" list, the longer you'll have to wait to see your site listed here.
    B. A site should have a point to it. Right now, the majority of the sites at UC consist of "Who's-Who", and contact number a listings. All fine and well. I'm looking for a little bit more than that.
    C. A site may have a point and information, but if it is presented poorly, it won't be found here.
    D. Innovation and ease of use are paramount. The whole point of this page is to allow others throughout UC to see what can be done, and give them an idea of how to do it.
